ABB AS in Norway and Saab in Denmark have signed a contract that will enable ABB AS to offer a unique critical communication infrastructure to future customers.
The contract is of strategic and commercial importance for Saab, creating a great chance for the company to position itself in the market of robust and secure IP based communication solutions to the on and offshore oil and gas industry.
The contract consists of the delivery of a TactiCall communication solution to BP Norge AS. ABB is a leading supplier of power, automation and telecom solutions to the on and offshore oil and gas industry. Saab’s TactiCall will account for the critical communication infrastructure as a part of a fully integrated power, automation and telecom solution delivered by ABB to BP on the Valhall Re- Development Project in Norway.
“Perfect co-operation between ABB and Saab has led to this win-win situation based on Saab’s extensive experience from the defence sector and ABB’s knowledge on the requirements in the oil and gas sector. This type of corporation is furthermore in line with Saab’s strategic growth plans focusing on industries’ requesting communication solutions and critical infrastructure. Here, Saab can contribute with high reliability and security - often working under harsh conditions like in the defence segment,” says Henning Christensen, Chief Operating Officer, Saab Danmark A/S.
TactiCall enables operators in the control room to manage all communication from one single operator console. The system collects all communication media and thereby simplifies communication tasks in daily operations as well as in critical situations.
