San Leon report that the Siciny-2 well has spud in the SW Carboniferous Basin of Poland. The well is located in the company's Gora Concession (San Leon 100%) 70 km to the southeast of the city of Zielona Gora.
The well is designed to test the unconventional gas potential of the Carboniferous sediments, which are believed to be the source rock for the significant gas production in the overlying Permian Rotligendes and Zechstein formations in Poland.
The well is planned to reach a total depth of 3,500 metres and has been designed as a stratigraphic test which will include an estimated 400 metres of core and an advanced geological and geophysical evaluation program. The company currently has no plans to do any significant flow testing of this well.
Based on the results of the well the Company will plan further evaluation and drilling in the region in 2012.
