Searcher Seismic, in conjunction with its project partner Seabird Exploration has expanded its ongoing 2D acquisition program in the Browse Basin, Australia. The Vampire West 2D non-exclusive survey comprises an additional 1,500km of long-offset 2D data and is being acquired in the highly prospective and under explored Outer Browse area. The data acquisition program comprising the Vampire West survey is supported by industry prefunding and covers approximately 9,000sqkm of prospective open acreage.
The Browse Basin is set to become a major hydrocarbon-producing region, with over 42 Tcf of gas and 844 MMbl of liquids discovered in the basin to date. Three major development projects are currently in the planning stages and additional recent exploration successes confirm substantial remaining potential.
"Searcher has rapidly expanded our multi-client database in the Browse Basin over the past 12 months and now offers the preeminent non-exclusive data coverage in the basin with a combination of well tie acquisition, 2D and 3D reprocessing. Working closely with industry we have created a package that not only gives existing operators an improved understanding of the basin but will also help unlock its remaining potential”, stated Alan Hopping, General Manager, Searcher Seismic.
Data from the Browse Acquisition program will be available for clients Q2-2011.
