Solomon Associates-2

Solomon Associates has promoted Russell Brown to vice president of consulting. In this role, Brown will lead Solomon Associates’ consulting teams in delivering data-driven performance improvement to operators of refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, terminals, and power generation facilities worldwide. Brown will report to Charles Reith, senior vice president of consulting and business development.

“Russell has been directly responsible for refining consulting for the past two years, and has shown a consistent ability to discover issues, define problems and develop innovative and profitable solutions for clients,” said Dale Emanuel, president of Solomon Associates. “We are excited to extend his responsibilities across all the industry segments we serve.”

Brown joined Solomon Associates in 2006, co-authoring the Worldwide Advanced Process Control Performance Analysis (APC Study) and later leading the APC consulting practice. He has served as manager of refining consulting since 2009.

“Solomon Associates’ authoritative benchmarking studies identify our clients’ performance gaps, and then our consulting teams develop strategies to close these gaps,” Brown said. “Using our data-driven approach, we are typically able to have a significant impact on performance within 90 days, and can improve efficiency by 50 percent or more over the course of an engagement. We focus on improvements requiring little or no capital expenditures.”

Before Solomon Associates, Brown was director of advanced process control at URS Corporation, a worldwide provider of engineering, construction and technical services, from 2001 to 2006. Prior to this, Brown worked at Pavilion Technologies as manager of power systems engineering and at ConocoPhillips as a senior engineer.

Brown has a doctorate in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University, where he also earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees.
