Aker Solutions, the former Aker Kvaerner, has won a $35.2-million contract to deliver subsea well sets for Phase 2 of Marathon Oil Corp.’s Alvheim development on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Marathon has only this week turned on the taps for the 50,000-barrel-a –day, subs-sea-to-floating production development.
Aker Solutions will build and deliver five subsea trees, subsea control systems and protection against trawling fishing boats. The contract is part of a frame agreement between oil company and contractor for all of Europe.
The trees will built at Tranby, Norway. The company’s Aberdeen workshops will build the control modules by year-end 2009.
