U.K. independent Dana Petroleum has been “pre-qualified” by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy to be an operator of licenses off Norway.
The status means officials have checked the company’s finances and ability to comply with strict safety demands.
Dana already oversees six license stakes in the Jotun field and exploration acreage from its Oslo office.
In late 2007, Dana Norway took part in the Storskrymten discovery and a second exploration well is drilling the Bjorn prospect with results hoped for in February.
