Expro Group lightwell intervention

Rival subsea companies Expro Group and FMC Technologies have partnered up on a five-year, 250-million-kroner ($36.1 million) contract to supply StatoilHydro with landing string services.

FMC Technologies has brought Expro aboard, but the large bore subsea work secures a decade of work for Expro’s Bergen base.

“The new contract is aimed at fostering a closer relationship between Expro and FMC,” a statement said. The two have produced competing riserless intervention kit for the growing fleets of offshore construction vessels.

The intervention work has secured both oilfield equipment companies at least one patron oil company.

The landing string job, meanwhile, includes a two-year extension option worth another NOK 100 million.
