U.K. independent Faroe Petroleum warned Friday that Gaz de France, operator of the Minke gas-producing field, has reported “an event” in a well that has curbed flows from the reservoir by half, it was understood Friday.
Remedial action is now needed for a field that has only produced since just 27 June 2007. GdF’s drilling and development appeared to go smoothly until the test indicating a problem in the well.
“The event is not believed to have significantly affected the gas initially in place in Minke,” a statement said, and indeed 20 million standard cubid feet per day are still being produced.
GdF’s D15 platform in the prospective Quadrant 44 is nearby.
Meanwhile, Faroe disclosed that GdF has given the nod to developing the Orca gas field, with design decision expected in 2008.
Minke interests are GDF (15.6 percent), E.ON Ruhrgas (42.7 percent), RWE Dea (35.8 percent) and Faroe Petroleum ( (5.9 percent).
