Norway-based Nexus Floating Production said it has allowed BW Offshore to undertake a loose agreement with Premier Oil in Vietnam over the possible charter of a floating production storage and offloading vessel, or FPSO.
The ship will otherwise be laid up once out of the shipyard in June 2009. Nexus and marketing partner BW Offshore hope to get the oil company to charter the pricy ship soon.
“The (Letter of Understanding) with Premier Oil is in the opinion of the Company an important opportunity going forward,” a statement said.
Premier, however, is understood to not yet have lined up customers and partners to pay for an FPSO-based oilfield, and it is understood Nexus, too, is reshuffling its finances.
