Petronas inks deal to supply LNG to Osaka Gas Company

Petronas Carigali’s project joint venture PCPP has cancelled a contract for the new-build jack-up rig Naga 2 with the Malaysia business of UMW Corp. and Norway-based Standard Drilling.

The rig was to drill exploration and development wells in Block SK 305 offshore Sarawak, Malaysia for $170 million.

The PCPP joint venture — partly the national energy champions of Malaysia (Petronas Carigali), Vietnam (Petrovietnam) and Indonesia (Pertamina) — The rig joint venture UMW Standard Drilling said other joint venture oil companies were already in talks on a new contract.

“Standard Drilling ASA expects NAGA 2 to be in operation by September 2009,” a statement said.
