Roxar and Oslo oilfield-software rival Yggdrasil have teamed up to round out an offering to oil companies seeking forecast and control data from early-days well-testing through to production.
A partnership is understood to give Roxar the right to buy-up controlling shares in Yggdrasil, the name of which denotes a tree at the centre of the Norse universe. First, Roxar will see how Yggdrasil performs on select flow assurance and production simulation projects.
Roxar is known for multi-flow metering that creates reservoir simulation data for its software, while Yggdrasil software tools are many and bring production-management for the entire life of an oilfield.
The extra aim of the field is to come abreast of the growing number of “remotely controlled e-field solutions” for production, also called Integrated Operations, as with ConocoPhillips offshore control site in Stavanger and new offerings from IBM (see Scandinavian Oil-Gas Magazine next issue.
The Yggdrasil agreement allows Roxar to move beyond reservoir simulation to give process equipment the “dynamic response of the entire production system to its prediction and uncertainty models.
