Drilling fluids engineering outfit Scomi Oiltools Ltd. has won a $12 million contract in Norway with BP to manage drilling waste with supermajor oil company BP.

The deal with BP, a first for the Scomi Group business in Norway, covers onshore and offshore Norway over four years.

With two-year options, $24 million will be earned for the Skarv field development work, BP’s $5 billion investment. Onshore, Scomi will work with Veolia Miljo to process the waste.

Scomi said it has a new solution to comply with Norway’s “zero-emissions” strictures. The company’s concept will cut organic carbon content prior to disposal of the drill waste in a new facility being built by Veolia in Sandnessjoen, Norway.

Scomi Oiltools will offer technical, R&D and equipment.
