Norway-based offshore fleet operator Solstad Offshore has entered into a long-term contract with ConocoPhillips in Norway for the hire of anchor-handling, tug-supply standby ship the Normand Mjolne.
The ship starts earning this month for what will be a 2.5-year contract.
Solstad said it was getting “an acceptable return” for the job, although contract terms were confidential.
Some observers foresee hard times for owners of offshore fleets after a swell of ship-building. Others point to new finance models for offshore shipping acting as a defence against the hardest times.
