Ithaca Energy receives independent engineering evaluation for Athena project-Spotlight

The U.K. business of Calgary-based Ithaca Energy has reported gas at the Carna prospect in the North Sea, although test flows were not recorded.

Venture, with 56-percent, operates well 42/21b-5z and is overseeing its completion for testing. Partner Ithaca (30 percent), Dyas (10 percent) and EWE Aktiengesellschaft with four percent fill out the field stakes.

Electric logs from the Ensco 92 rig suggest gas reservoir at 10,000 feet total vertical depth. Net pay is put at 127 feet. Testing is set to start in a week.

The Carna well spudded on 26 December 2008 and was sidetracked at around 3,000 feet.

Meanwhile, at the Jacky field, Ithaca expects a well completion to usher in flows of 7,500 barrels of oil per day by the end of March.

Ithaca is operator at Jacky with a 67 percent stake. Dyas and North Sea Energy Ltd. stand to earn 23 percent and 10 percent.
