Chris Lilley - STATS Group

Pipeline engineering specialist, STATS Group, is expanding in to the Asia Pacific region with the appointment of Chris Lilley as business development manager in Singapore.

The Aberdeen isolation and intervention technology company has recently secured a number of key contracts in Asia and believes clients in the region will account for around 30% of group turnover in the next three to five years.

The company is also in the process of establishing a registered trading company in Singapore and long term plans include opening an operational base to service the market

With a mix of capital projects and mature assets which demand integrity and maintenance support, STATS recognises the Far East as a key market with tangible opportunities for its product line, specifically for pipeline intervention and isolation tools and services.

Mr Lilley has more than 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry with a background in onshore, offshore, subsea construction and pipeline sectors. He previously held senior positions with FSDS in Kazakhstan and CAPE Group and was operations manager in south east Asia for TD Williamson.

STATS Group managing director, Pete Duguid, said: “The Asian market is a key component in our global development and to support growth in the region we need a focused approach to provide consistency in client service and to maximise the numerous opportunities which exist in that market.

“To date we have only scratched the surface in terms of potential business but Chris’s appointment will deliver immediate returns and provides an important link between our engineering and technical staff and existing and potential new clients

“We are in the process of establishing a legal trading entity in the region and expect to open up an operational base as we grow our market share.”

Chris Lilley added: “I’ve been aware of STATS for some time and its ethos of providing nothing less than top quality products and services. My priority is to create a solid and visible foundation for existing Asian projects and relationships, and then build upon this foundation to expand STATS market territory.

“I am very optimistic about the company’s future in Asia and I am excited to be part of the STATS team.”
