Talisman gets nod to drill sidetrack wells on Varg A

Maersk Guardian jackup

Talisman Energy Norge (TENAS) has been granted consent to drill three sidetrack wells on Varg A using the mobile drilling facility Mærsk Guardian.

The Varg field is located in the southern North Sea, about 230 kilometers west of Jæren, and is part of production license 038. The field has been in production since December 1998.

The purpose of the drilling is, according to TENAS, to increase utilization and maintain the production level from the field by drilling into new reservoir areas.

The plan is to start drilling at the turn of the year 2010/2011 and to finish in the beginning of April 2011.
