Tethys Oil has entered into a contract with oil service company MB Petroleum Services for well testing on the completed Jebel Aswad well, which flowed 2,626 boepd of natural gas and condensate when tested in June 2007. The tests will be carried out during the second half of November and the results will be a part of the development plan for the field.

The testing will involve acquiring downhole samples of the reservoir fluid. The testing operations including flow tests are expected to take seven days. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the true condensate gas ratio (CGR), which is required in order to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of the gas condensate and to model the reservoir performance over the field life. The results will be a part of the development plan for the field, and will be used to determine the number of production wells and to optimize the pipeline steel and the capacity of the separators.

The Jebel Aswad re-entry well on Block 15 onshore Oman was completed during the summer of 2007. On testing the well flowed 11.03 mmscfpd of natural gas and 793 bpd of 57API condensate (total of 2 626 boepd). Tethys Oil is the Operator of Block 15 with a 40 per cent interest with Danish company Odin Energi holding the rest.
