TNK-BP replaces 129% of production with new reserves

TNK-BP and the government of Tyumen Region have signed a protocol to their Strategic Partnership Agreement, confirming the parameters of interaction between the company and the region in 2012.

TNK-BP is working on one of the biggest oil & gas projects in the region, developing the Uvat group of fields with total recoverable reserves of around 300 million tonnes in the south of Tyumen Region.

TNK-BP is focusing its social investment activities on key areas: assistance for vulnerable social groups, culture, education, preservation of historical heritage, health care and sport. The company's social projects in the region for 2012 include support for the Russian Biathlon Championship and All-Russian biathlon competitions for the Tyumen Region Governor prizes, development of the hardware and software complex at TNK-BP's information centre in Irkutsk state university, and construction of infrastructure.

The company is actively involving enterprises based in Tyumen Region as contractors and suppliers for the Uvat project, supporting the region's market in goods and services. TNK-BP is consistently enhancing the transparency of its contracting system and building relationships with its partners on the principles of equal opportunities and free competition.

'From year to year the volume of goods and services purchased by TNK-BP from Tyumen-based companies is increasing. In 2011, the company spent 8.6 billion rubles on equipment, materials and services. The system of incentives put in place by the regional administration and supported by TNK-BP is having a positive impact on the supply side in Tyumen Region', said German Khan, TNK-BP's Executive Director.

Vladimir Yakushev, the Governor of Tyumen Region, noted in turn that 'the performance targets under the second agreement have been met, oil production is growing and the company is moving ahead. Exploration work is underway at new fields. The next step is to start producing oil at the new fields. As far as tax revenue is concerned, the plan for profit tax payments was 15 billion rubles, but in fact Tyumen Region, including the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Territories, received 30 billion rubles.'
