UK oil and gas companies should prepare for action as the global unconventional gas market gathers pace, according to Colin Welsh, CEO of Simmons and Company International, corporate finance specialists to the energy industry.
Mr Welsh, who heads the company in the UK, believes it may take the UK unconventional gas sector more than five years to ramp up to make a material contribution to UK gas production. Unlike the US, which already boasted a land service sector and adaptable gas infrastructure and equipment, the UK must start from scratch which is not only a challenge, but also an inviting opportunity for entrepreneurs.
