Vietsovpetro (VSP), a Vietnamese-Russian joint venture focused on the production and exploration of oil and gas as well as the design, assembly and repair of offshore facilities, has expanded its use of Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise, including an upgrade to SmartPlant 3D.

VSP, Southeast Asia’s third largest oil producer and exporter which is responsible for 80 percent of Vietnam’s oil and gas output, will use SmartPlant Enterprise engineering solutions to increase productivity and accelerate schedules for the design, construction and capital Project Life cycle Management (cPLM) of its customers’ projects.

SmartPlant Enterprise is an integrated solutions suite that provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation and safe operation and maintenance of large-scale process, power, marine and offshore projects. The software’s life cycle data management also enables a smoother handover for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies to owner operators and for owner operators to more easily maintain, refurbish or modify their plants.

With SmartPlant Enterprise, VSP can synchronize its design and documentation activities and ensure the integrity of the data and designs. The software will also enable the firm to quickly visualize, question and analyze situations to avoid costly mistakes and speed project execution. In addition, VSP will be able to better manage the large number of designs and modifications it performs on new and existing offshore platforms.

An existing Intergraph PDS customer, VSP’s upgrade to SmartPlant 3D will enable it to easily manage data in both the 3D model as well as output drawings for tasks such as design and installation of new pipelines and equipment items, extraction of general arrangement drawings, piping isometric drawings, equipment layouts, pipe support drawings and various types of reports.

SmartPlant 3D can deliver up to 35 percent productivity savings in key plant design disciplines compared to conventional software – and even more when it is integrated using SmartPlant Enterprise solutions suite as VSP will be doing. In addition, SmartPlant 3D can cut the time taken to check P&ID consistency and accuracy between the 2D schematic model and 3D digital plant model by more than 90 percent.
