Viking Moorings, a provider of total mooring solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry, has signed an exclusive agency agreement with Canadian-based Newfoundland Offshore Services (NOSO) Limited. The news was released at the Atlantic Canada Petroleum Show 2011, currently taking place in St.John’s, Newfoundland.
Under the terms of the agreement, NOSO will provide Viking Mooring’s full portfolio of innovative mooring equipment and services to operators and drilling contractors throughout the growing offshore Canadian market and will significantly strengthen the oil & gas services NOSO can offer its customers. NOSO is part of the COIL Group of Companies, Eastern Canada’s largest oilfield supplier.
Furthermore, with Viking Moorings’ 25 years of experience in operating in some of the world’s most hostile offshore environments, such as the Norwegian and UK North Sea, the company will be ideally placed to meet the challenges of the Canadian offshore oil & gas sector and bring safe and innovative mooring solutions to it.
“Viking Moorings prides itself on operating on a global level but also ensuring that our customers have access to the very best in local resources, experience and personnel,” said Paul Crichton, Business Development Manager at Viking Moorings.
He continues: “Our agreement with NOSO today ticks all these boxes. It enables Canadian-based operators to tap into a local mooring service with all the accompanying benefits and reduced transportation costs. Operators, however, can also enjoy the advantages of partnering with a global company that has over 25 years experience in the industry and continues to bring innovative and safe solutions to market. We are delighted to be working with NOSO which has a huge standing in the Canadian oil & gas sector, and maximizing the growing exploration opportunities in the region.”
His words were backed up by Matt Shinkle, NOSO’s Business Development Manager: "We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with Viking Moorings today. The partnership will strengthen our portfolio of services, as we continue to serve the needs of the ever growing offshore Canada marketplace."
The partnership will see Viking Moorings have a strategic and operational presence throughout the Canadian offshore sector, providing moorings services for seamless rig moves and safe procedures for the deployment of mooring equipment.
Exploration and production activity offshore Canada has continued to grow over the past few years. In the Jeanne d’Arc basin, for example, the Hibernia and White Rose fields continue to grow in importance, with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board estimating that reserves from the Hibernia field are 1.395 billion barrels of oil. Other offshore Canada fields being targeted include North Amethyst, the Mizzen prospect and the Deep Panuke field off Nova Scotia’s coast.
