West Energy says that Mr. Pat Welsh, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of West, has tendered his resignation effective April 30, 2009, to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Welsh has been an officer of the Company since September 2007 and West wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

West advises that it has recently mailed to registered shareholders and certain beneficial shareholders an Annual Financial and Operating Summary for 2008 in place of the traditional annual report which was mailed in previous years.

This summary document contains a copy of West's management discussion and analysis and West's audited consolidated financial statements and notes thereto, all in respect of the year ended December 31, 2008.

In keeping with the current economic times, West has decided to not produce a traditional annual report as it considers placing up-to-date materials on its website on an ongoing basis to be a more informative and cost effective way of making such information available to shareholders.
