OPFLEX Solutions Inc and Woods Hole Marine report a distribution agreement, wherein Woods Hole Marine will supply OPFLEX® products to ports and marinas throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Together, the companies will create real green jobs with American-made products.

Following OPFLEX Solutions’ CEO, Scott Smith’s, presentation to the scientific community at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute on the OPFLEX® Technology on Wednesday, October 26th, Smith and his team demonstrated the efficacy of the technology and its ability to be recycled with a Maytag washer and a wringer.

Joe Harvey of Woods Hole Marine, stated, “Seeing the recent demonstration of the OPFLEX® Snare MOP removing oil sheen within minutes at the marina was all we needed to support the OPFLEX® technology. We can’t keep filling the landfills with the one-time-use, less-efficient old technology. OPFLEX® material’s ability to be reused can eliminate this problem as well. Woods Hole Marine is committed to providing an environmentally friendly solution to clean up every day oil contamination throughout Massachusetts.”

Smith added, “We are committed to providing Low Carbon Impact (LCI™) solutions to clean our precious waterways in Massachusetts and scientifically monitor the waters with OPFLEX® Environmental Indicators. We look forward to releasing the testing reports from New Bedford and Barnstable Harbor. Unlike the Gulf of Mexico, the waters are shallow surrounding Cape Cod and with the lower volume of water a small oil spill or oil contaminated storm water runoff poses a great risk to wildlife and the livelihoods of our local fishermen.”

Smith added, “Most conventional white sorbents are based on imported materials made in China and fill our landfills needlessly. In light of the Solyndra scandal and our own Evergreen solar panel debacle in Massachusetts, it is time to speak up on behalf of the environment, those out of work, and American small business.”
