Borgland Dolphin

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted a drilling permit for wellbore 6407/1-5 S which will be drilled from the Borgland Dolphin drilling facility at position 64°59'20.14'north and 07°00'17.24'east after completing the drilling of wildcat well 6507/6-4A for E.ON Ruhrgas in production licence PL350.

The drilling program for well 6407/1-5 S relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production licence PL475 BS/CS, where Wintershall Norge is the operator with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. The other licensees are Petoro (30 per cent) and Centrica Resources Norge (20 per cent).

The area in this licence consists of parts of Blocks 6406/3, 6407/1 and 6507/10. The well will be drilled about ten kilometres northwest of the Tyrihans field.

Production licence 475 BS was awarded on 23 January 2009 in APA 2008, and 475 CS was awarded on 4 February 2011 in APA 2010. This is the second well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling activity commences.
