Aberdeen-based Maritime Assurance and Consulting Ltd (MAC) has enjoyed a successful first year in business.

The company, which was set up by Graeme Reid in January 2011 and provides a comprehensive range of consultancy and support services to the worldwide marine, construction, drilling and floating production industries, has exceeded all initial expectations.

First year turnover was anticipated at being around £650,000, however due to the continued growth and success of the company, turnover for the year was £1.5M. The team has grown in numbers from four to 15, and the company also launched a new division in September in the form of MAC Resourcing, headed up by Damian Skelly.

MAC Resourcing offers existing and new clients a specialised recruitment service, placing top level personnel, such as naval architects and marine engineers, within the marine, engineering and renewable energy sectors.

Mr Reid is confident that 2012 will see the business growing further and expected turnover for the forthcoming year is £2.5M.

He said: “2011 was a fantastic year for MAC and a great way to kick start the new business. Initial projections were always encouraging, but what we have actually achieved has far exceeded my early expectations for the first 12 months of business.

“I am fully expecting 2012 will be another busy year for us. We’re hoping to expand the team further and in doing so, will probably have to relocate as we are close to out-growing our current premises.

“We pride ourselves in the service we offer clients and feel that it is the personable and honest approach we go into every job with that has resulted in this extremely successful period for us.”

MAC Resourcing anticipates a successful year and has already placed a number of staff and contractors with existing and new clients. Following a successful launch MAC Resourcing also plans to increase its headcount in 2012.
