Aker Kvaerner proposed to change name to Aker Solutions

Aker Solutions has been awarded six contracts from Samsung Heavy Industries. Co. Ltd. for the supply of deck machinery to 17 ships. The total value of the contracts for Aker Solutions is approximately NOK 70 million.

The award of these new contracts from Samsung boosts Aker Solutions deck machinery backlog to a historical high. Aker Solutions deck machinery order intake thus far for 2008 is approximately NOK 300 million.

Aker Solutions has for many years been a major supplier of deck machinery to Korean Shipyards. The order increase represents a breakthrough in, among others, the Chinese market. The current backlog for Aker Solutions deck machinery to China totals more than 120 ship sets. Aker Solutions has also recently secured a contract for delivery of deck machinery for ten ships being built at the newly established shipyard, Atlantico Sul in Suape, Brazil. This contract is of strategic importance in a rapidly expanding Brazilian market.

"The increased demand for our deck machinery in a highly competitive market shows that our customers have confidence in the quality of our products and our delivery capability", says Leif Haukom, President Aker Pusnes AS. "We are currently delivering a complete set of deck machinery every working day and are proud of our staff and the confidence shown us by our customers."

The contract party is Aker Solutions' subsidiary Aker Pusnes AS, based in Arendal, Norway.
