The North East’s manufacturer and global supplier of fire, blast and heat hazard solutions – Mech-Tool Engineering (MTE) – has bolstered its senior management team following a series of new business appointments.

Based in Darlington, the company has appointed a Group Sales and Business Development Director, a Group Proposals Manager and a Group Procurement Manager. This follows on from the recent announcement of Anthony G Jones stepping into the role of Managing Director.

Speaking about the appointments, Jones says, “We are delighted to welcome to the team industry leaders that bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the company who will play an influential role in improving our internal capabilities as we drive the business forward.”

John Robson – the newly appointed Group Sales & Business Development Director – has joined the team at MTE from the United Arab Emirates office of Larsen and Toubro where he was Global Business Development Director. He has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry specialising in offshore and onshore fabrication and construction on subsea production and marine service projects.

Speaking about his new role, Robson says, “MTE is recognised across the globe for its leading solutions and it is an exciting time to join the business as we already have a great order book with lots of new opportunities ahead – particularly in sectors such as offshore wind – where MTE has a wealth of expertise in delivering contracts to this sector. I have been greatly impressed by MTE’s team of world class designers and engineers and I am confident that through strengthening the senior management team the business will continue to progress.”

Robson will be responsible for the management of business development, marketing, sales and proposals for new and existing markets, product ranges and services within the company.

Bringing over 25 years’ experience administrating procurement departments for renowned companies including Worley Parsons, Mott MacDonald, BP, Weatherford and Lukoil, Chris Gaddas will be stepping into the position of Group Procurement Manager responsible for all company and project affiliated procurement requirements. Chris has worldwide knowledge of the industry having just returned to the UK after working in Kazakhstan, Dubai and Malaysia for the past 13 years.

In addition, the company’s new Proposals Manager, Kevin Lowder, will be responsible for delivering clear and robust proposal submissions to new and existing clients with respect to all technical, commercial and operational aspects for both fire and blast and modular projects across the globe. With a predominant background in fabrication and manufacturing, Kevin possesses more than 25 years’ experience in the industry, having held senior positions with major industry players including Weatherford, Nigerdock PLC and Lamprell.
