Norway-based BW Offshore is sueing project partners in the Basker Manta Gummy Phase 2 oil and gas project for some $90 million in cancelled supplier orders, although partners said Friday they’ll dispute the claim in Australian court.
Basker Mantra’s oil companies cancelled in December a letter of inent with BW Offshore for delivery a floating production storage and offloading vessel. BWO has pressed for some payment in court.
Anzon Australia’s parent company Roc Oil said Friday the partners do not believe payments made to BW Offshore’s vendors are payable.
It is understood Anzon is in receipt of a BW’s legal notice which claims the letter of intent to build the FPSO contains words that provide for the reimbursement of some costs.
Operator Anzon (40 percent) is joined at Basker Mantra Gummy by Beach Petroleum (30 percent), CIECO Petroleum (20 percent) and Sojitz Energy Australia with10 percent.
