Havila marks Libyan “upswing”

Oil company Total E&P has hired the anchor-handling tug and supply ship Havila Neptune from Norway-based offshore service ship supplier Havila Shipping, it was learned Friday.

The 140-day contract engages the vessel for work offshore Libya worth $11.5 million and suggests a day rate of $78,600 for area vessels. Paris-based Total can opt to renew the ship’s services.

Havila confirmed Friday that Libya is a growing market for offshore duty ships.

“Libya, yes, but the whole of the Mediterranean is currently enjoying an upswing,” he told Scandoil.com Scandinavian Oil-Gas Magazine is understood to be presenting a special report on the Libyan offshore market in its next issue.
