Norwegian offshore construction outfit Oceanteam has won Mexican regulatory approval for its 90-percent buy-up of Compania Naviera de Transporte Maritimo, SA de CV, or CONAT.

Bergen-based Oceanteam signalled its interest in the deal some nine months ago. It’ll close the buy-up via its new holding company Oceanteam Mexico BV.

The last 10 percent of CONAT shares will be held by “the management team in Mexico”.

CONAT becomes Oceanteam Mexico SA de CV with its two 33-meter fast support vessels and a pair of new-build ships due later in 2008. The new construction-support vessel North Ocean 102 starts five-year contract later this year for Mexican IMR and Offshore Construction Company CICSA
