ConocoPhillips, Chevron Corp. and Canada’s Husky Energy Inc. have been awarded major prizes from among the 22 of 25 available blocks Indonesian officials released in the latests round of licensing, news agency Dow Jones has reported.
Conoco won the Arafura Sea block, Chevron the offshore West Papual I and III blocks and Husky the North Sumbawa II block.
The news coincides with an opening of “energy policy dialogue” with the United States. For the second time in three years, the U.S. deputy assistant secretary for international energy cooperation will meet Indonesian officials in a Jakarta hotel on 21 October 2008.
U.S. and Indonesian leaders aim to add renewable energy and coal to their oil and gas talks.
