Cooper Energy has successfully acquired 972.7 km of 2D marine seismic data in the Bargou Permit in the Gulf of Hammamet, Tunisia. Seismic acquisition operations were completed ahead of schedule on July 12th, 2007.
Final acquisition costs are yet to be finalised but, given the excellent operational performance, are expected to be in line with budget estimates.
The acquired seismic data will now be sent to Fugro Seismic Imaging Pty Ltd., in Perth for processing. The seismic processing will commence immediately upon delivery of the data and is expected to take 12 weeks to complete; after which the seismic data will be interpreted by Cooper Energy staff.
The new data adds to the existing extensive seismic dataset in the Bargou block. The interpretation will assist in the compilation of a high-graded prospects and leads portfolio for the permit. Maps of the prospects and leads will then be used to highgrade areas of hydrocarbon prospectivity for additional seismic acquisition in 2008 with a view to maturing a number of prospects to drillready status. This is expected to result in a proposal to drill an exploration well in 2009.
Cooper Energy holds 100% of the Bargou Permit.
