Norway-based oilfield engineering outfit Aibel has secured a $75-million engineering and procurement contract by the Algerian joint venture of BP, Sonatrach and Statoil, the supplier-contractor announced Friday.

The work order for the In Salah and In Amenas gas-field facilities is for two years, at $25 million a year, plus two one-year options.

Aibel’s new U.K. engineering office at Petersfield won the job.

In Salah entails the development of seven gas fields in the southern Sahara. It’s the world’s first full-scale carbon dioxide capture project at a gas field. In Amenas involves the development and production of natural gas and gas liquids from four wet gas fields in the Illizi basin of south-eastern Algeria.
