Oceanteam signs long term contract for CSV North Ocean 102

Norwegian offshore builder Oceanteam has merged one ot its businesses in a move toward developing and owning offshore power grids, especially in the renewable-energy market, the company heralded Thursday.

An intaller of offshore cables, Oceanteam has now merged its Hydragrid business with IMERA Power of the United Kingdom. IMERA today announced plans approved by U.K. regulator OFGEM to lay two underwater cables between the Republic of Ireland and Wales on the U.K. coast.

An IMERA office in Dublin will seek to build and own cable networks between the power grids of nations, with Oceanteam Power & Umbilical as “preferred supplier”. Oceanteam has earned experience laying cables to wind farms, as well as subsea preparatory work.

Oceanteam ASA will own 70 percent of the new IMERA Power.
