Chevron and China Huadian sign Heads of Agreement for long term LNG supplyDec 22, 2015Chevron Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., has signed a non-binding liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply Heads of Agreement (HOA) with China Huadian Green Energy Co., Ltd. When the agreement is finalized, China Huadian Green Energy is expected to receive up to 1 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG over 10 years starting in 2020.
Statoil, partners submits PDO for Oseberg Vestflanken 2Dec 21, 2015Statoil and its partners submitted the plan for development and operation (PDO) of the North Sea Oseberg Vestflanken 2 to the authorities on 18 December 2015. The development will provide in excess of 100 million barrels of oil equivalent. Statoil and its licence partners have decided to develop the Oseberg Vestflanken 2 covering the Alpha, Gamma and Kappa oil and gas structures. They are located around eight kilometres northwest of the Oseberg field centre.

First Subsea completes Heidelberg Spar MooringDec 17, 2015Deepwater mooring company, First Subsea Ltd, has completed the installation of subsea mooring connectors for Anadarko Petroleum Corp's Heidelberg truss spar platform moored in 5,310ft (1,620 m) of water in field development in the Gulf of Mexico.
The 23,000-ton spar has been moored by nine Series III Ballgrab ball and taper mooring connectors attached to polyester mooring lines. The connector's male mandrels are manufactured in compliance with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) 2009 Approval for specialist subsea mooring connectors.

Wintershall makes minor oil discovery near the Vega Sør fieldDec 11, 2015Wintershall Norge AS, operator of production licence 248, is in the process of completing the drilling of wildcat well 35/11-18 and appraisal well 35/11-18 A. The wells have been drilled approx. four kilometres west of the Vega Sør field. The primary exploration target for well 35/11-18 was to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Brent group). The secondary exploration target was to prove petroleum in Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks (sandstones in the Heather formation).

Shell takes final investment decision to build Solvent Deasphalter unit at Pernis refinery in the NetherlandsDec 9, 2015Shell has taken the final investment decision to build a major new unit at the Pernis refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Tracerco to provide smart tracer technology for new wells in Statoil’s Mariner fieldDec 8, 2015International oil and gas service provider, Tracerco, part of FTSE100 firm Johnson Matthey Plc has landed a contract to provide smart tracer technology for flow measurement of six new wells in Statoil’s Maureen reservoir of the Mariner field in the UK North Sea. Heavy oil was discovered at the field in 1981, but has remained inaccessible until now. Alternative technology implemented by Statoil has made producing from the discovery viable. As part of field development Tracerco’s smart tracers will enable fluid inflow measurement of both oil and water in various zones within the long horizontal wells that would not easily be accomplished using traditional production logging technologies (PLT).
Norwegian Petroleum Directorate: 26 companies apply for exploration acreageDec 7, 2015The application deadline for production licences in the 23 licensing round expired on 2 December, and 26 companies had applied for exploration acreage by the end of the deadline.This licensing round comprises 57 announced blocks or parts of blocks, 3 of which are in the Norwegian Sea and 54 in the Barents Sea. 34 of the announced blocks are situated in the newly opened area in the south-eastern Barents Sea, and many of the applications target this acreage in particular.

Statoil seeking new acreage on the Norwegian Continental ShelfDec 4, 2015Statoil has delivered its application for the 23rd licensing round on the Norwegian continental shelf to the Norwegian authorities. It is expected that the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will announce the awards late first half of 2016. The round represents the first opening of new acreage on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) since 1994. Statoil’s application aims to significantly contribute to the company’s ambition for 2030 and beyond.

Edvard Grieg field in the Norwegian North Sea begins productionDec 1, 2015Wintershall strengthens production profile in Norway / Second partner-operated field brought into production in 2015. With the start of production of the Edvard Grieg field in the North Sea, Wintershall has strengthened its position as one of the major oil and gas producers on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The Lundin-operated oil field, discovered in 2007, has been developed with a stand-alone platform on a steel jacket construction. Wintershall has a 15 percent share.

Aker Solutions wins Maintenance and Modifications contract from BP in NorwayNov 27, 2015Aker Solutions won a framework agreement to provide maintenance and modifications services at BP-operated oil and gas fields offshore Norway. The contract has a fixed period of five years valued at as much as NOK 3.2 billion. It also contains options to extend the agreement by as many as four years. The accord starts on December 1, 2015 on expiration of an existing agreement for similar services.
BG Group starts commercial operations from QCLNG Train 2 in AustraliaNov 26, 2015BG Group says that commercial operations began from the second train at its Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) plant. QGC, BG Group’s Australian subsidiary, has also assumed control of Train 2 from Bechtel Australia, which built the facility. BG Group now has full control of both LNG trains and associated facilities at QCLNG. By mid-2016 the integrated project is expected to reach plateau production, producing enough LNG to load around ten vessels per month combined which is equivalent to exporting around eight million tonnes per year.
